Ratings action and drivers behind the outlook change
As reported by AM Best, the ratings agency revises the outlook on AmTrust Group to positive from stable and affirms the Financial Strength Rating of A- and the Long-Term Issuer Credit Ratings of “a-” for the group’s members.AM Best says the ratings reflect AmTrust’s very strong balance sheet strength, adequate operating performance, neutral business profile and appropriate enterprise risk management. AM Best adds that AmTrust’s 25 years of workers’ compensation experience, focus on small businesses across the United States and underwriting capabilities based on proprietary data, predictive modeling and more recent AI tools support targeted profitable growth. Its distribution network also supports strong policy retention, while geographic and product diversification broadens the business beyond its core line.

AM Best says the positive outlook also reflects its expectation that AmTrust Group continues strengthening its workers’ compensation position while expanding in other segments and steadily growing surplus through organic growth. The agency notes that balance sheet strength metrics improve, with risk-adjusted capitalization reaching the strongest level at mid-year 2026 as measured by Best’s Capital Adequacy Ratio, or BCAR.Beyond workers’ compensation, AmTrust offers specialty property and casualty products including businessowners policies, general liability, title, legal expense, medical malpractice, and extended service and warranty coverage.
