CySEC identifies six fraudulent sites offering fake compensation services
CySEC exposes fraudulent websites

The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) has issued an urgent public warning about a series of fraudulent websites that pose as legitimate recovery services and falsely claim affiliation with the regulator. These sites target individuals who were previously victims of online investment scams, offering assistance in recovering lost funds—while in reality collecting personal and financial data for malicious purposes.

According to a CySEC press release, at least six such websites have been identified:

• getyourmoneyback.ltd

• getyoursback.org

• theystole.net

• chargebackinternational.com

• chargebackme.com

• chargebackmoney.biz

These platforms have no connection to CySEC and are actively targeting defrauded investors through online advertisements and social media campaigns. The regulator also warns that additional similar sites may exist but have not yet come to its attention.

Fraud tactics and the regulator’s official position

Scammers frequently use fake email addresses that resemble CySEC’s official domain (such as variations mimicking @cysec.gov.cy), posing as CySEC employees or official representatives. They offer victims the opportunity to recover funds lost through investments in both regulated and unregulated entities—but in reality, inflict further financial harm.

CySEC emphasizes that it never contacts individuals by phone or email unsolicited, and it does not collect personal or financial data. The Commission explicitly states that it:

• Does not authorize or participate in recovery schemes

• Has no mandate to collect fees from investors

• Does not appoint third parties to act on its behalf

Investor guidance and resources for protection

To avoid falling victim to such scams, CySEC advises investors to:

• Verify the authenticity of any communication claiming to be from CySEC by emailing report.fraud@cysec.gov.cy

• Refrain from responding to suspicious messages or clicking links from unknown senders

• Ensure any CySEC-related emails end with the domain cysec.gov.cy

• Immediately report any suspicious activity

CySEC also maintains a public warning list of fraudulent entities and impersonators, and provides a detailed guide titled “How to Avoid Scams” on its official website. Investors are strongly urged to remain vigilant and never transfer funds to individuals claiming to act on behalf of CySEC.

Note: CySEC has also previously outlined its supervisory and growth priorities for 2025.
