LVMH stock stabilizes at €606 amid collapsed Marc Jacobs sale talks
LVMH’s talks to sell Marc Jacobs have reportedly collapsed

As of November 5, LVMH stock is trading at €606.30, down 0.8% over the last 24 hours. The stock remains above its 200-day moving average, which sits at €573.77, suggesting that long-term bullish sentiment is intact.

Highlights

- LVMH’s planned sale of Marc Jacobs has reportedly fallen through, halting a potential portfolio streamlining move.

- The failed talks reflect challenges in divesting mid-tier fashion labels amid a cooling luxury market.

- LVMH is expected to continue focusing on its core ultra-luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Dior.

LVMH is in advanced talks to sell the Marc Jacobs brand, potentially valuing the label at around $1 billion, according to a Yahoo Finance report. While Marc Jacobs has shown signs of a turnaround in recent years, the brand has struggled to maintain consistent profitability and relevance within LVMH’s otherwise dominant fashion portfolio. The move reflects a broader strategic shift by CEO Bernard Arnault to sharpen focus on high-performing, ultra-luxury assets like Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Tiffany & Co., while offloading underperforming or mid-tier fashion labels.

However, according to three sources cited in the report, earlier negotiations to sell Marc Jacobs to Jamie Salter’s Authentic Brands Group have fallen apart. This suggests potential uncertainty surrounding the brand’s valuation or strategic fit with prospective buyers. While LVMH may still be seeking alternative suitors, the failed talks underscore the challenges in offloading non-core assets in a cooling luxury market.

This comes at a time when the global luxury market is facing cyclical pressures. LVMH’s Q3 2025 earnings reported a 9% year-on-year sales decline in its Fashion & Leather Goods division—the group’s most critical business segment. Demand from China has weakened due to slower economic growth and real estate market distress. Meanwhile, U.S. consumers have begun showing signs of fatigue, reacting to high prices and inflation-related concerns. Additionally, FX headwinds and weaker tourist flows have further pressured margins in key markets like Japan and Europe.

Technical analysis suggests moderate bullish structure with short-term resistance

Shorter-term averages, such as the 5-day (€614.80) and 10-day (€613.26), are slightly above the current price, which indicates minor downward pressure in the near term. The 50-day moving average, at €616.92, is proving to be a key resistance level, and price action appears to be consolidating just below this area.

Momentum indicators are currently neutral to slightly positive. The Relative Strength Index (RSI-14) is sitting near 55.9, which reflects a market neither overbought nor oversold. This positioning allows for flexibility in either direction, though the broader setup suggests upward momentum could resume if macro conditions stabilize. Support is identified at €553.10 (medium-term) and €532.80 (longer-term). Immediate resistance sits at €623.20, and stronger resistance is noted at €734.10—levels that have acted as ceilings in prior rallies.

Volumes have been relatively average, but options flows suggest cautious optimism with a skew toward near-the-money call positions expiring in December. From a technical standpoint, the stock remains in a recovery channel since its September lows, but its inability to break above the €620–€630 zone could turn into a concern if macro headwinds increase. In summary, LVMH’s technical posture remains moderately bullish, but momentum must increase and price must clear €620–€625 in order to initiate a broader leg higher.

€650 target in base case, with risk down to €550

In the base case scenario, assuming modest macro stability and successful completion of the Marc Jacobs divestment, LVMH shares could move from the current €606.30 level toward €650 within the next 3 to 6 months. This target corresponds with the 50-day moving average zone and a minor resistance cluster from earlier this year. The valuation remains demanding, but the market may re-rate the stock positively if margin stability and focused brand strategy are emphasized in upcoming earnings.

In a more bullish scenario, where Chinese demand rebounds and U.S. discretionary spending recovers, LVMH could push toward the €700–€730 area, particularly if operating leverage in core divisions improves. However, such an outcome requires both macro tailwinds and strong holiday season performance.

Analysts are increasingly divided on LVMH’s outlook, with some maintaining Buy ratings based on long-term brand strength, while others express concern over margin pressure and weakening demand. The divergence reflects growing uncertainty as luxury market growth shows signs of slowing despite LVMH’s recent earnings beat.
