The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has made points about the U.K. tax system that align closely with those raised by think tanks. Robert Colvile draws attention to the similarity in comments regarding how taxation could be stifling economic growth.
Colvile noted that the OECD is raising the same arguments about tax-driven growth barriers as many policy groups have previously identified.
Colvile has previously noted a discrepancy between government and industry estimates for business admin costs, with tax policy figures reaching £25 billion. He has also highlighted that housing costs as a share of income have tripled since 1957. Both issues have been cited alongside tax as barriers to economic competitiveness.
