U.S. gas prices reach 2022 highs

Charlie Bilello, chief market strategist at Creative Planning, draws attention to a sharp increase in U.S. gas prices. Gasoline prices have reached $4.43 per gallon, marking the highest level since July 2022.

This rise represents a 49% jump over the last nine weeks, moving from $2.98 to $4.43 per gallon, the largest spike recorded in the past 30 years.

Bilello previously reported major increases in commodity and energy prices since the start of the Iran war. He has also discussed the Federal Reserve’s expansion of the money supply by nearly $9 trillion under Powell and questioned explanations for persistent inflation in a separate analysis here. These observations follow a pattern of tracking sudden price changes in U.S. markets.
