U.S. crypto derivatives trading exceeds $200B, Brian Armstrong notes
Coinbase U.S. crypto derivatives volume rises

Brian Armstrong, co-founder, chief executive officer, and chairman of the board at Coinbase, signals strong growth in Coinbase's U.S. derivatives business.

According to Armstrong, 25 contracts have already surpassed $200 billion in total traded volume. U.S. crypto perpetual futures launched on Coinbase in July 2025, and upcoming unified global liquidity could further accelerate activity for U.S. traders.

Armstrong previously announced Coinbase's launch of pre-IPO perpetual contracts for SpaceX outside the U.S., broadening the company's global derivatives offering. He has also highlighted growth in areas such as crypto derivatives, stablecoins, and prediction markets across finance. The expansion of Coinbase's derivatives business continues a pattern documented in Armstrong's earlier statements.
