Sonali Basak: IPO deals drop sharply from 2021 and 1999 levels
IPO deals decline, buybacks expected to rise

Sonali Basak reports that this year is projected to see roughly 100 IPO deals, a significant decline compared to more than 250 in 2021 and 400 in 1999.

Basak adds that corporate buybacks are on pace for a record, with Goldman Sachs expecting buybacks to outweigh supply for 2026.

Basak recently reported that yields climbed after a hawkish FOMC meeting, with the two-year yield rising by 85 basis points ahead of key inflation and GDP data here. In an earlier piece, she analyzed potential developments in the first year after a SpaceX IPO here. Both updates highlight areas closely watched by market participants.
