Matt Huang: Stripe, Visa, Coinbase and others launch new open stablecoin
Stripe, Visa, Coinbase join open stablecoin

Matt Huang, co-founder and managing partner at Paradigm, announced a collaborative effort by Stripe, Visa, Coinbase, Mastercard, Amex, Blackrock, and others to develop an open stablecoin aimed at sharing economics with users and distributors.

The new token, OpenUSD, will be natively issued on Tempo from day one.

Huang previously noted that Stripe, Meta, and Deel have integrated stablecoins on the Tempo platform, expanding opportunities for firms interested in digital assets. Earlier this year, he reported that Deel would launch stablecoin features on Tempo, starting in Argentina and planning for global rollout. Details of these moves can be found here and here.
