Willem Middelkoop: Fed resumes quantitative easing as foreign demand for U.S. Treasuries wanes
Fed restarts QE amid weak demand

Willem Middelkoop, founder, investor, commodity fund manager at Commodity Discovery Fund, highlights that the Federal Reserve has restarted quantitative easing. According to Middelkoop, the Fed is increasing money printing to purchase more U.S. Treasuries due to a decline in foreign investment in U.S. sovereign bonds.

He points out that the Federal Reserve invested over $300 billion in Treasuries in the last year.

Middelkoop previously noted that central banks are planning to reduce their dollar reserves and increase gold holdings, citing concerns over U.S. financial stability. He has also commented on disruptions in the commodities sector, referencing Rio Tinto's 7% decline in copper production following a smelter outage. These observations come as investors watch for impacts on global markets.
