Nick O’Kane leaves Mercuria after brief tenure, Javier Blas reveals
Nick O’Kane exits Mercuria after two years

Javier Blas, energy and commodities columnist, journalist, author at Bloomberg, reports that top trader Nick O’Kane has left oil and gas trading house Mercuria after only two years. O’Kane previously ran Macquarie’s commodity franchise and was regarded as one of the world’s best paid bankers.

Blas recently reported that Danish authorities dropped a major 2023 market manipulation case involving energy traders. In a separate update, he covered JPMorgan’s expectation that a wave of oil supply may outpace near-term demand. Both events highlight continued activity and scrutiny in the energy trading sector.
