Vinny Lingham: OpenAI pulls back 2026 IPO plan after AI capex concerns
OpenAI halts IPO as AI capex flagged

Vinny Lingham, co-founder, chairman and CEO at Civic (CVC), suggests that after a significant CPI release, statements from Dario, Sam, and Elon to 'pace the frontier' were followed by OpenAI abandoning its planned 2026 IPO.

Lingham indicates that Bessent and Warsh may have advised OpenAI to slow down data-center expansion due to concerns over AI capital expenditures impacting the Treasury market. He further adds that a rate hike at this time could negatively affect the long end of the yield curve and notes the coordinated nature of these developments.
