JPMorgan sees Microsoft Cloud ROIC decline

Matthew Sigel highlights insights from JPMorgan regarding Microsoft Cloud's return on invested capital (ROIC).

According to JPMorgan, the ROIC for Microsoft Cloud is estimated to be around 37% in FY26, which represents a decrease from approximately 54% in FY24. This decline is attributed to the early stages of artificial intelligence infrastructure build-out. Looking ahead, JPMorgan expects ROIC to stabilize at about 32%-33% from FY27E through FY31E.

Sigel has previously covered sector developments, noting BTBT's creation of a new strategic asset company category for comparisons with digital asset trusts and ETFs in this report. He also reported on BTDR's expansion at Soluna's Dory Creek Texas site, where more than 7MW of homemade ASICs were added with equal revenue sharing, as detailed here. These updates provide additional context to his ongoing coverage of capital allocation trends.
