10-year Treasury faces historic losses

Charlie Bilello, chief market strategist at Creative Planning, highlights that the 2020s are on pace to be the worst decade in history for the 10-year Treasury bond, with an annualized total return of -1.3%.

He cautions that while Treasuries are considered safe from default risk, they remain exposed to interest rate and inflation risk.

Bilello previously noted the S&P 500 has averaged a 12% annual return since 1980 despite periods of significant market drawdowns. He has also reported that U.S. producer prices rose 5.4 percent over the last year. Both data points provide context for current concerns about bond market performance and inflation risks.
