U.S. refineries hit 25-year October high

The U.S. refining industry is operating at its highest level for October in at least 25 years, significantly above what is typical for this time of year.

Javier Blas, an energy and commodities columnist, said that the usual seasonal maintenance at many plants has been postponed, citing high margins and pressure from President Donald Trump as contributing factors.

Blas has previously reported that global crude oil shipments are nearing record highs, with no Iranian barrels included in recent flows. He also noted that Gunvor will rebrand as Centalion and relocate its headquarters to Singapore. These developments add context to current trends in the refining and trading sectors.
