AI sector decline marks end of bubble, Edward Dowd states
AI bubble called over by Edward Dowd

The semiconductor industry is down 32% from its parabolic peak in June and has taken out its July low, which Edward Dowd described as evidence that the artificial intelligence bubble has technically burst.

Edward Dowd, founding partner at OceanSquare Asset Mgmt and former BlackRock executive, added that there will be rallies ahead, but in his view, the AI bubble is now over.

Earlier this year, Dowd pointed to June as the turning point for the semiconductor sector, citing a peak driven by speculative, debt-fueled demand in the market as detailed in a previous analysis. He has also questioned claims by industry executives regarding cost factors, including expressing skepticism over Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s remarks about CoreWeave’s capital costs in another reported dispute. Both prior discussions focused on risks tied to industry leverage and bond market signals.
