Daniel Lacalle: U.S. dollar strength in 2026 remains within decade trading range
Dollar strength seen in 2026 trading range

The strength of the U.S. dollar in 2026 is just a movement within its trading range over the last decade.

Daniel Lacalle, chief economist and investment manager at Tressis Gestion, also said the weakness of gold in 2026 has only a small impact on what he described as a winning streak for the dollar. He emphasized that long-term factors matter.

Lacalle has weighed in on recent trends outside the dollar as well. He previously noted that bond yields rose as ECB President Christine Lagarde addressed inflation concerns. Earlier, he warned that a German exit from the euro could trigger bank asset losses and financial instability in Europe.
