Rolls-Royce shares gain momentum after defence investment
Rolls-Royce recovery continues.

Rolls-Royce stock has held above GBX 1,380 after the company announced a major defence investment and U.K. inflation came in below expectations.

The key corporate development was Rolls-Royce's decision to expand its defence manufacturing capacity in the United Kingdom. The company selected McLaughlin & Harvey to build a new facility in Bristol, with the project valued at more than £100 million.

The site will be used for research, manufacturing, and assembly of next-generation military aviation technologies. Construction is scheduled to begin later in 2026. As the project is customer-funded, it strengthens the long-term outlook for Rolls-Royce's Defence division, although it is unlikely to have a meaningful impact on near-term financial results.

Additional support for the U.K. market came from inflation data. In June, the CPI rose 0.1% month over month, while annual inflation slowed from 2.8% to 2.6%, below the 2.7% consensus forecast.

Recovery depends on holding GBX 1,380

The bullish scenario outlined previously continues to play out. Rolls-Royce stock has established a firm foothold above the GBX 1,380 resistance level, keeping the psychological GBX 1,400 level as the next upside target.

However, the stock has now advanced for four consecutive trading sessions, increasing the probability of a short-term pullback. For the rally to continue with confidence, buyers will need to support the move with stronger trading volumes.

If the price fails to hold above GBX 1,380, the level would likely turn back into resistance, increasing the probability of a decline toward the next support at GBX 1,355.

Rolls-Royce volatility rises ahead of half-year results

Volatility in Rolls-Royce stock could gradually increase as the company approaches its July 30 half-year earnings report.

While positive corporate news and softer inflation continue to support the current momentum, some short-term traders may begin taking profits after four consecutive sessions of gains.
