Can Rolls-Royce shares extend the rally without new catalysts?
Rolls-Royce holds support as momentum cools.

Rolls-Royce remains on a solid fundamental footing following its results in July. However, a fresh cascade of corporate news has proved few and far between in recent days. Support continues at GBX 1,510, keeping the GBX 1,600-1,650 medium term range in focus.

Rolls-Royce benefited from a strong and consistent news flow, covering new aviation, defense orders, as well as progress in SMR’s, and the delivery of solid H1 results. That now seems to have dissipated significantly, leaving the market in this calmer phase.

The bar is already high given the pace of the rally and enhanced guidance and in order for prices to carry any further through recent highs, a new fundamental catalyst will probably be required.

Holding GBX 1,510 preserves the path toward GBX 1,600–1,650

Key support at GBX 1,510, identified previously, continues to hold. For a stronger confirmation of the current setup, however, the shares would ideally remain above this level for a little longer.

As long as buyers retain control above GBX 1,510, the probability of a move toward the GBX 1,600–1,650 target zone remains elevated.

A sustained break below GBX 1,510 would shift the short-term balance in favor of sellers and materially increase the risk of a deeper correction toward GBX 1,450.

Strong fundamentals remain intact during news lull

Rolls-Royce remains underpinned by strong fundamentals, including 46% year-on-year growth in underlying operating profit to £2.5 billion, an increase in its full-year 2026 underlying operating profit guidance to £4.7–£4.9 billion, and an upgrade to its 2026 free cash flow forecast to £3.8–£4 billion.

The Civil Aerospace, defence segments along with increasing power solutions demand for data centre’s all offer continued supported for the business. However, there lacks a recent catalytic event that would be strong enough to propel the stock into further upside momentum.
