Rolls-Royce shares hold above GBX 1,550 as U.S. Navy contract supports outlook
Holding GBX 1,550 keeps the record high in focus.

Rolls-Royce remains within the previously established GBX 1,510–1,586 range, but holding above GBX 1,550 increases the probability of another test of the record high.

A U.S. Navy contract worth roughly $48.1 million for Rolls-Royce Corporation was published on the public SAM.gov database. The contract covers spare parts for MT7 turboshaft engines used on LCAC 100 Class air-cushion landing craft, including six spare engines and related kits.

The MT7 is used in the U.S. Navy’s Ship-to-Shore Connector program, which is gradually replacing the older LCAC fleet and is designed to transport equipment, cargo, and personnel from ships to shore. Rolls-Royce is one of the program’s key suppliers.

Although the contract is relatively small in the context of the wider group, it adds to a series of recent Defence orders and supports Rolls-Royce’s broader fundamental backdrop.

Holding above GBX 1,550 keeps the ATH in focus

Rolls-Royce shares continue to trade within the previously identified GBX 1,510–1,586 range. As long as the price holds above GBX 1,550, the probability of another test of resistance near the record high at GBX 1,586 remains elevated.

A decisive break and sustained move above GBX 1,586 would open the way toward the medium-term target zone at GBX 1,600–1,650.

The RSI (14) could become one obstacle to a rapid extension of the rally. If the shares reach a new record high, the indicator risks entering overbought territory, which could limit upside momentum in the short term and increase the probability of profit-taking.

UK inflation could become the next volatility catalyst

The next notable macroeconomic event for the UK market will be the release of July UK CPI data, scheduled by the Office for National Statistics for August 19.

The inflation figures could influence expectations for the Bank of England’s next policy moves and add volatility to UK shares, including Rolls-Royce. For RR, this is particularly relevant with the price trading relatively close to its record high.
