AI cloud contracts expand as Microsoft deal and Nvidia status fuel growth

Iris Energy has advanced its transition toward AI cloud infrastructure with the approval of its Horizon 1 site, part of a significant cloud agreement with Microsoft. This facility, the first of four planned for the year, also achieved Nvidia Exemplar Cloud status, positioning the company in high-performance AI computing. Approximately 85% of its $4 billion AI-cloud revenue target has been secured through contracts, expanding Iris Energy's relationships with major technology partners.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, views the approval news as a short-term boost, but warns the technicals reveal lingering resistance above $47.09. He sees overbought momentum oscillators and a considerable gap between short- and long-term moving averages as signals that current strength is fragile. Kharitonov highlights that aggressive buyers are dominating but notes the overextension relative to fundamental value. He points out that while contracts cover much of the projected revenue, long-term sustainability is not yet proven. As he states, "Buyers should be cautious — the stock is vulnerable to correction if the bullish narrative fails to drive a convincing breakout above key resistance."
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, sees Iris Energy’s momentum underpinned by robust partnerships and a major Microsoft cloud contract. He believes the company’s move into high-performance AI infrastructure and the rapid securing of 85% of revenue targets provide a springboard for institutional interest. Karapetjanc notes that the bullish structure remains intact while price holds above $44.89 and technical signals show buyers in control. In his view, sustained demand from technology partners should support further growth opportunities. He says, "With its foundation in strategic deals, Iris Energy is positioned for further gains and presents attractive setups for bullish investors."
Sholanke Dele, market strategist, points out that broader macro risks remain, despite the positive Microsoft partnership. He notes the stock's rally may be overstated given signs of exhaustion in momentum readings and high intraday volatility. Dele warns that the overall market backdrop increases fragility for overstretched growth narratives. He comments, "Chasing this rally looks risky in a potentially unstable macro environment — I recommend protecting capital until volatility subsides."

Short-term momentum overbought as resistance limits further upside

Iris Energy is trading at $45.84, which places the stock above both the 20-day ($39.23) and 50-day ($44.89) moving averages but still below the 200-day ($47.09). This positioning highlights short- and medium-term strength with potential long-term overhead pressure, with a near-term ceiling at $46.12 and immediate support at $44.89, while the Ichimoku Kijun at $39.06 confirms underlying trend support further below. Momentum readings present a mixed picture. MACD signals a neutral stance, and Average Directional Index (ADX) remains neutral with limited trend strength. Relative Strength Index (RSI) at 54.86 suggests mid-range momentum with a buy signal, yet both Stochastic RSI and Commodity Channel Index (CCI) are notably overbought, with the Bull/Bear Power (BBP) showing buyers firmly in control and also in overbought territory. The Awesome Oscillator (AO) supports upward momentum. The stock gained $1.78 or 4.04% today after an upside gap of about $0.97 (+2.2%), currently trading near its session high, with intraday volatility at 4.99%. The tone remains strong toward the upper range. Overbought oscillator readings caution against assuming a continuation without pause.

Earlier, analysts noted that Iris Energy’s pivot to AI cloud infrastructure was being tempered by ongoing technical and market headwinds. The latest developments reinforce that while medium-term momentum has improved, traders should monitor for a decisive move above $46.12 or below $44.89 as a signal of directional follow-through beyond the current consolidation range.
