AMD remains under pressure as $480 resistance blocks recovery
AMD stays below its medium‑term descending trend line, which puts pressure on the technical structure. Meanwhile new AI contracts keep backing the foundation but geopolitical risks might reduce demand for semiconductor shares.
AMD announced that its Instinct MI430X GPUs and 6th Generation EPYC CPUs will power the €387.8 million European LUMI‑AI supercomputer. This system should provide about ten times the AI computing power of the LUMI and is expected to start working in the latter half of 2027.
AMD, Cisco and HUMAIN also revealed the start of production AI infrastructure in Saudi Arabia that uses AMD Instinct MI355X accelerators. The next part of this effort should add up to 250 MW of capacity beginning in 2027. The long‑term goal for the joint project is 1 GW, by 2030.

Failure to reclaim $480–485 keeps downside pressure elevated
AMD remains below its medium-term descending trend line. If the stock fails to break above the $480–485 area this week, the probability of a deeper correction toward $424, the July 29 local low, would increase noticeably.
For today’s session, the base case remains a move toward the nearest support around $452, although sellers would first need to establish the price below $465 for confirmation.
If AMD quickly recovers and holds above $465, the short-term downside signal toward $452 would lose relevance, shifting attention back toward another attempt to test the $480–485 area.
Strong AI demand meets a more challenging macro environment
The new LUMI-AI and HUMAIN projects confirm resilient demand for Instinct and EPYC products, keeping AMD’s fundamental story strong. The main challenge now lies more in market valuation and broader risk sentiment.
Higher oil prices and macroeconomic risks could continue to pressure the technology sector even in the face of positive company-specific developments. As long as AMD remains below $480–485, the technical structure continues to favor sellers, with $452 remaining the nearest downside target.
