Enbridge targets C$69 as shares stabilize after C$3 billion equity raise
Holding C$66–65 could support a recovery toward the September gap

Sometimes a sharp gap says less about deterioration in the underlying business than about the price the market assigns to fresh capital. For Enbridge, that distinction is particularly important now: the initial shock is understood, but investors still need to decide whether the reaction went too far.

On the evening of September 9, Enbridge announced a bought-deal offering of 38.9 million new shares worth C$2.6 billion at C$66.85 per share. For comparison, the stock had closed the previous TSX session near C$69.28, meaning the offering was priced at a discount of roughly 3.5%. On September 10, the shares opened near C$66.76 and finished the session down 3.67%, effectively repricing toward the new issue price.

There was also a positive operational development. Enbridge said on September 14 that Line 5 had returned to service through a temporary bypass following the incident in Wisconsin. Environmental testing and remediation work at the site are continuing.

C$66.70 becomes the immediate stabilization test

After falling more than 3%, Enbridge shares are showing the first signs of stabilization. For the current session, C$66.70 becomes the key level to watch.

If buyers manage to defend this area, the stock could attempt a recovery toward C$68.

An open below C$66.70 followed by a sustained move under the level, however, would increase the risk of another test of C$66.

The first signs of a potential rebound are also emerging. The RSI (14) has formed a bullish divergence on the daily timeframe, suggesting that downside momentum is beginning to weaken.

As long as the C$66–65 zone holds, the potential for a recovery toward C$69 remains intact. That is where the unfilled portion of the September 10 gap is located.

The market now has to digest the dilution

For Enbridge, the immediate question is no longer so much why the selloff occurred, but how quickly the market can absorb the new equity. The C$66.85 offering price has created a clear reference point, while completion of the financing removes some of the uncertainty that had weighed on the shares since September 9.

If the C$66–65 area holds, investors may gradually shift their focus away from dilution and toward the potential contribution from the new Tallgrass assets.
