Biography

Sunjay Kapur (1971–2025) was an Indian industrialist and automotive industry executive who served as Chairman of Sona Comstar, also known as Sona BLW Precision Forgings Limited, a manufacturer of automotive components and electric mobility technologies.

Kapur joined Sona BLW Precision Forgings as a director in 2006. In 2015, following the death of his father, company founder Surinder Kapur, he became Managing Director and took a leading role in the company's development.

Under his leadership, the business strengthened its financial position, expanded its international customer base, and diversified beyond traditional automotive components into products supporting electric vehicle drivetrains. A strategic partnership with Blackstone and the acquisition of Comstar's motor-related capabilities contributed to the creation and expansion of Sona Comstar.

Kapur served as Chairman of Sona Comstar and was associated with the company's international growth and transition toward advanced mobility technologies.

He died on June 12, 2025, at the age of 53. Sona Comstar subsequently commemorated his contributions to the company's development and automotive industry leadership.
