OKX announced the launch of Exchange OS, a protocol upgrade built on X Layer that enables developers and institutions to create spot, perpetual, and outcome markets using the same underlying infrastructure as its platform. OKX has introduced Exchange OS, a protocol upgrade built on X Layer that enables developers and institutions to launch spot, perpetual, and outcome markets using the infrastructure that powers OKX's own platform. The system moves core exchange functions such as matching, margining, liquidation, settlement, and risk management to the protocol layer, while allowing for custom front-end design and varied operating models by different operators. Exchange OS supports both permissionless and permissioned deployments and requires developers to stake OKB tokens to deploy new venues. The first live venue—a simulated "2026 World Cup Outcomes" market—is scheduled to go live in June 2026 as an initial demonstration of the protocol, before wider rollouts and additional proposals are released.
