Robinhood pushes into AI and social trading, challenging broker rivals
Robinhood, the U.S. fintech giant known for commission-free trading, used a live broadcast from the F1 Grand Prix Plaza in Las Vegas to unveil a sweeping set of new products aimed at strengthening its position among active traders. The broker introduced social features, advanced analytics, and new asset classes, turning its platform into a comprehensive hub for retail investors.
- Chosen by 1 600+ local traders in the last 3 months.
- Traders earn on average 12% more per month vs other brokers.
Social trading network
The centerpiece is Robinhood Social, a community embedded directly into the app. Unlike traditional social networks, where information is often difficult to verify, Robinhood’s system confirms trades in real time. According to the broker’s statement, users will be able to see exactly when and how positions are opened and closed, follow peers and professional traders, and even track publicly disclosed trades by politicians and hedge funds. User identities will be verified through KYC, eliminating fake profiles.
The feature will launch in the U.S. early next year on an invitation-only basis and will be free of charge. “Robinhood is no longer just where you trade—it’s your financial superapp,” said CEO Vlad Tenev, highlighting the company’s move toward integrating community, data, and execution.
Upgrades to Robinhood Legend
The company also announced enhancements to Robinhood Legend, its browser-based platform for advanced traders. Asset coverage will expand to more than 40 futures products from CME Group, including U.S. stock indexes, oil, gold, and Bitcoin. Gold members will benefit from some of the lowest commissions in the industry, as well as free real-time L2 data.
Legend is also gaining a new trading ladder interface, enabling one-click order execution across futures, equities, ETFs, and crypto. Already popular on mobile, the feature is now available in the U.S. and the U.K.
AI-powered tools
Another major innovation is Robinhood Cortex, an artificial intelligence assistant built into Legend. It allows traders to create custom indicators without coding and use them across both web and mobile platforms. Cortex also provides advanced market scanning with instant alerts, helping users quickly identify new opportunities.
Additional features for active traders
Robinhood is rolling out multiple brokerage accounts, overnight index options trading, and short selling—one of the most requested features among users. Traders will also be able to link mobile devices with Legend, enabling them to analyze markets on a desktop while executing trades from their smartphones.
Industry impact
With these additions, Robinhood is accelerating its transformation from a commission-free stock trading app into a multi-asset financial ecosystem. By combining social engagement, AI-driven analytics, and broader asset access, the company aims to redefine the active trading experience and intensify competition with leading brokerages.
