Pakistan cuts petrol price for three days, leaves diesel unchanged
Pakistan lowers the retail price of petrol for a three-day period ending October 19, while leaving high-speed diesel rates unchanged. The short-term revision follows another midweek fuel price adjustment and reflects shifts in international oil benchmarks and related pricing inputs.
Highlights
- Pakistan reduces petrol price by Rs3.93 to Rs386.30 per litre for October 17–19, 2026, while high-speed diesel remains at Rs396.96 per litre.
- The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority implements this three-day price adjustment in response to changes in Platts rates, premiums, and international incidentals.
- Brent crude futures rise 0.34% to $106.28, while U.S. WTI crude futures slip 0.19% to $97.78 amid ongoing Middle East supply uncertainty.
Three-day fuel price revision takes effect
As reported by Business Recorder, citing the Petroleum Division, the government cuts the price of petrol by Rs3.93 to Rs386.30 per litre, while keeping high-speed diesel unchanged at Rs396.96 per litre. The new ex-depot prices take effect from October 17 to October 19, 2026. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, or OGRA, revises the petroleum product prices under the pricing mechanism set by the federal government.
The Petroleum Division says the latest adjustment is driven by global developments, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and incidentals. The revised prices apply for three days and cover the weekend.
Global oil moves shape domestic pricing
Earlier in the week, the government reduces the price of petrol by Rs3.63 to Rs390.23 per litre, while increasing the price of high-speed diesel by Re0.31 to Rs396.96 per litre.International oil markets remain a key factor for domestic fuel pricing. On Friday, Brent crude futures are up 36 cents, or 0.34%, at $106.28 a barrel at 1107 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures are down 19 cents, or 0.19%, to $97.78.
Oil prices steady and head for weekly gains amid uncertainty over Middle East supplies and a larger-than-expected draw from U.S. crude stockpiles. At the same time, European diesel margins drop after an International Energy Agency move to release more of the fuel.
In our earlier article on Pakistan’s October 15 fuel price revision, we detailed how the government raised petrol to Rs393.86 per litre while slightly lowering high-speed diesel to Rs396.65 under the federal pricing mechanism. We noted that the Petroleum Division linked the adjustment to global factors such as movements in Platts rates, premiums, and incidentals, against a backdrop of shifting Brent and WTI prices amid Middle East-related supply concerns.
