Clean air surpasses smart tech

Over one third of homebuyers, or 34 percent, now consider clean air and water—such as high-quality filtration systems—a top priority when purchasing homes, according to Redfin Corp.

This factor ranks second only to security concerns and is more important than amenities like scenic views or smart technology. For Generation Z buyers, clean air and water are the number one priority, reflecting a shift in consumer values as climate and environmental questions become central to real estate decisions.

Redfin has previously highlighted regional affordability trends, noting interest in Cleveland’s affordable housing market and a unique arena listing in the area in an earlier report. The company also reported that the median U.S. mortgage payment reached $2,742, with rates rising following developments in the Iran war in another update. These reports offer additional context to shifting buyer priorities in the current market.
