Nano Nuclear preps for NRC rules

Nano Nuclear Energy Inc. announced that its KRONOS MMR microreactor is well-positioned to comply with the evolving advanced reactor frameworks under the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s (NRC) Part 53 and proposed Part 57 regulations.

The NRC’s Part 53 final rule, aimed at creating a more flexible regulatory approach for advanced nuclear technologies, is set to take effect on April 29, 2026. Nano Nuclear Energy Inc. signaled its intent to move forward under these guidelines, which could facilitate the commercialization of next-generation nuclear microreactors in the U.S. market.

The company recently advanced its regulatory journey as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission began formal safety and environmental reviews for its licensing bid. Nano Nuclear Energy Inc. also became the first commercially ready microreactor developer to file a construction application. These steps mark key milestones as the firm pursues U.S. market entry.
