Pacific Biosciences of California has announced its support for Sherlyn Weng of UCSD, enabling her attendance at the ASM Microbe conference through the company's giveaway program.

Weng's research specializes in microbial genomics and antimicrobial resistance (AMR), addressing key obstacles linked to the quality of metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) yielded by short-read sequencing assemblies. The initiative reflects ongoing collaboration between industry and academia to advance solutions for pressing microbiology challenges.

Pacific Biosciences of California recently launched its HiFi Starter Kit, aimed at broadening access to long-read sequencing for researchers. The company also set a $300 price point for 20x human genome HiFi sequencing on Revio to increase affordability for laboratories. These initiatives reflect ongoing efforts to support scientific research and accessibility in the genomics field.
