Ocugen, Inc. moves forward with its ArMaDa Phase 2 study, targeting a transition toward Phase 3 development of OCU410, a gene therapy candidate for geographic atrophy.

Arshad M. Khanani, MD, MA, FASRS, shared updates in an interview during the ASRS2026 conference, emphasizing the study’s significance for retina specialists. He outlined next steps for the gene therapy program, with OCU410 positioned as a promising approach for patients with advanced retinal disease.

Ocugen has previously focused on developing modifier gene therapies for rare genetic retinal diseases, targeting the preservation of vision in affected patients (see article). The company is also advancing OCU410 specifically for geographic atrophy, a severe form of dry age-related macular degeneration affecting 2–3 million people (see article). The ongoing studies reflect the company’s progression in ophthalmic gene therapy development.
