D-Wave Quantum launches quantum simulator

D-Wave Quantum has introduced a beta version of its gate-model quantum computing simulator. The company is offering select customers early access to the simulator ahead of its wider public release.

The new simulator represents a significant progress point in D-Wave Quantum's development of gate-model quantum computing solutions. Details on participating customers and broader availability were not disclosed.

Earlier this year, D-Wave Quantum finalized an agreement with the U.S. Commerce Department for up to $100 million in CHIPS Act funding, according to company disclosures. The company previously demonstrated that its quantum computers can enhance generative AI applications in drug discovery, as reported in an earlier update. D-Wave shares have traded lower in recent sessions.
