ShotSpotter part of New York City public safety progress as SoundThinking shares sharp decline in shootings
SoundThinking notes drop in shootings

SoundThinking announced that New York City has recorded its lowest number of shooting incidents, shooting victims, and murders through the first nine months of 2026, according to NYPD data. Shooting incidents fell by 11.6 percent year over year during this period.

The company noted that its ShotSpotter technology is one component within a broader public-safety ecosystem contributing to these results.

SoundThinking has taken similar steps in other cities and sectors. Its ShotSpotter alert previously led Baltimore Police to evidence of a shooting, resulting in an arrest on September 3, as reported in Baltimore. The company also partnered with RedSpeed and PlateRanger to offer school-zone speed enforcement systems with integrated ALPR at no upfront cost, according to a prior announcement. These initiatives reflect SoundThinking’s approach to public safety technology deployment.
