  • October's delivery growth accelerated from a 5% annual increase in September, marking the twelfth consecutive month of year-on-year growth.
  • Tesla's October deliveries fell 28.9% from September, indicating weaker monthly momentum despite continued strong export and domestic shipment volumes from Shanghai.

October delivery data from Shanghai

As reported by Reuters, citing the China Passenger Car Association, deliveries of Tesla's China-made Model 3 and Model Y vehicles rise 10.3% year on year to 67,829 units in October.

The October result accelerates from a 5% annual increase in September and marks a 12th straight month of year-on-year growth. The tally covers vehicles produced at Tesla's Shanghai factory, including exports to Europe, Asia Pacific and Canada.

Monthly slowdown tempers annual growth

Despite the annual gain, October sales fall 28.9% from September on a monthly basis.

The figures point to continued overseas and domestic shipment volume from Tesla's main China production hub, while also showing weaker momentum compared with the previous month.

In our earlier article on China’s third-quarter growth outlook and late-September policy support, we noted that economists expected only a modest pickup, still near the low end of Beijing’s full-year target. We also highlighted how stronger exports and factory output were helping offset weak domestic consumption, subdued private investment, and ongoing property-market stress.
