Ripple has received preliminary approval for a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license. Once the authorization process is completed, the company will be able to offer regulated crypto services across all countries in the European Economic Area (EEA).
The approval was granted by Luxembourg's financial regulator. After receiving its final license, Ripple will be able to operate under the EU passporting framework across all 30 EEA countries.
The new authorization will complement Ripple's Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license, which the company obtained in Luxembourg in February 2026. Together, the two licenses will allow Ripple to provide banks, fintech firms, and corporate clients with an integrated infrastructure for payments involving digital assets and stablecoins.
Ripple said Europe remains one of its key strategic markets, while the rollout of MiCA is accelerating institutional demand for digital asset services.
As the framework enters full effect, crypto companies are accelerating their licensing efforts across the European Union. A MiCA license enables firms to provide services throughout the European Economic Area without obtaining separate national authorizations.
Several major market participants, however, are still awaiting decisions from European regulators on their applications.
Expanding its European presence forms part of Ripple's broader strategy to strengthen its global payments infrastructure and digital asset services.
Earlier, cryptocurrency exchange Binance said it was still awaiting a decision from European regulators on its MiCA license application. According to media reports, Greek authorities are considering rejecting the company's request.
