Breez has introduced a new feature in its SDK that allows users to send Bitcoin payments that are received as USDT or USDC across more than 30 blockchain networks. Users do not need to convert funds in advance or maintain separate stablecoin balances.
According to the company, the solution combines the Lightning Network with an automatic conversion mechanism. After a recipient's address is entered, the SDK identifies the destination blockchain, calculates the payment route, displays the applicable fees, and converts Bitcoin into the selected stablecoin.
The conversion is handled by liquidity providers Flashnet and Boltz. Senders continue holding their funds in Bitcoin until the payment is executed, while recipients receive stablecoins on the blockchain network of their choice.
Breez said the solution remains non-custodial and currently supports only outgoing payments. Support for receiving funds from external blockchains will be introduced in a future update.
According to Breez CEO Roy Sheinfeld, the technology does not require issuing USDT or USDC directly on the Lightning Network. Instead, it relies on cross-chain interoperability to facilitate settlements.
In February, Secure Digital Markets completed a $1 million institutional Bitcoin transfer via the Lightning Network in less than half a second. Tether also rolled out a major update that expanded its wallet's compatibility with the network.
Meanwhile, Satlantis launched a ticketing platform with integrated Lightning wallets, while startup Ark Labs raised $5.2 million to develop infrastructure for issuing and settling stablecoins on Bitcoin.
Earlier, analyst Stephan Livera said transaction volume on the Lightning Network continues to grow despite remaining roughly 50% below its historical peak.
