Highlights

  • AVAX remains locked in a strong bearish trend, confirmed by negative weekly momentum and dominant selling pressure.
  • Technical indicators collectively reflect a firm downside bias, with oversold conditions but no evidence of imminent reversal.
  • AVAX is expected to trade in a tight $6.24–$6.89 range over the next week, with a higher risk of further declines if support fails.

Ecosystem and institutional inflows rise following etf launch this week

Institutional participation in Avalanche grew notably after the launch of the first US spot AVAX ETF (VAVX) by VanEck in January 2026, providing regulated access and including staking rewards. Meanwhile, the network’s DeFi activity surged, as total value locked doubled since April 2025 to approximately $2.1 billion and Aave v4 deposits across Ethereum and Avalanche surpassed $300 million with over $100 million in active loans. Additional ecosystem expansion came with the launch of the nOPAL tokenized vault product, offering allocators exposure to FX-hedged Brazilian credit card receivables.

Bearish momentum confirmed as technical indicators fail to signal reversal

Weekly technicals remain bearish for AVAX, as price action stays below the MA-20, MA-50, and MA-200, solidifying the negative trend. Key resistance aligns with the MA-20 at $8.17, while weekly support sits at $6.24 and resistance at $6.89. The RSI at 34.22 and CCI at -86.98 both signal near-oversold conditions, although not yet at extreme readings, while MACD and ADX reinforce the prevailing bearish bias and sellers’ dominance. Weekly volatility is contained at 5.02%, and oscillators show no meaningful bullish divergence.

Narrow range expected as persistent bearish signals cap breakout risk

For the next 7 days, AVAX is expected to trade inside a corridor between $6.24 and $6.89, reflecting persistent downward bias and contained volatility. The probability of a significant upward move is very low (less than 20%), given the alignment of all four key weekly indicators in favor of sellers. Most likely, price will continue consolidating or drifting lower within this range unless the support at $6.24 is breached, potentially accelerating declines. Any bullish breakout above $6.89 appears unlikely based on current technical conditions.

Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, sees the past week confirming persistent downward momentum on Avalanche, but also notes the significance of robust institutional participation and DeFi ecosystem growth. He highlights the recent US spot AVAX ETF launch and the doubling of total value locked as a sign that smart capital is positioning for future opportunities. Karapetjanc believes sellers still dominate in the near term, with prices likely to remain between $6.24 and $6.89 in the coming week. However, with indicators pointing toward near-oversold conditions and healthy development on the network, he expects a constructive setup is building for an eventual reversal. "While technicals keep AVAX under pressure this week, the strong fundamental backdrop increases the probability of attractive buying opportunities emerging soon."

Earlier, analysts noted that Avalanche was entrenched in a persistent downtrend despite ongoing institutional adoption and network expansion. The continued bearish technical structure, combined with healthy growth in DeFi activity and recent ETF-driven institutional inflows, underscores $6.24 as a crucial support level to monitor for renewed downside momentum or potential stabilization.
