AVAX needs a catalyst to break out of falling wedge
Avalanche stays trapped inside a falling wedge.

AVAX remains trapped inside a medium-term falling wedge, while mixed on-chain data has yet to generate sustained momentum.

According to DeFiLlama, Avalanche TVL stands at roughly $422 million, up 1.53% over the past 24 hours. Net capital inflows reached about $44.4 million over the same period, while the network processed around 3.36 million transactions across 187,841 active addresses.

The broader picture is less convincing. Stablecoin market capitalization fell 3.34% over the past week to $1.58 billion, while seven-day DEX volume dropped 31.49% to $238 million. Improvement in a few individual metrics has yet to translate into a sustained expansion in liquidity and trading activity.

Break above the 50-day SMA could open the path toward $7

AVAX continues to trade inside the medium-term falling wedge mentioned previously, with its boundaries acting as dynamic resistance and support.

For the next several sessions, the main level to watch is $6.56, where the 50-day SMA is located.

A decisive break and sustained move above this average could strengthen short-term bullish momentum and open the way toward $6.88, where the upper boundary of the wedge currently sits.

If buyers can clear that area as well, the psychological $7 level would become the next natural target. Such a move would give AVAX a chance to break out of the structure that has constrained its recovery for the past several months.

A stronger fundamental catalyst is still needed

The current consolidation suggests that an improving macro backdrop alone is not enough to change AVAX’s longer-term structure. Even CPI, which can move the broader crypto market through shifts in Federal Reserve rate expectations, failed to push the price out of its current range.

A decisive exit from the local consolidation, followed by a meaningful challenge to the longer-term downtrend, will likely require a stronger Avalanche-specific catalyst tied directly to network demand, liquidity growth, or institutional adoption.
