Chainalysis data maps growth in Canada-Asia corridors

As reported by Cointelegraph, citing Chainalysis, remittance-sized crypto transfers from Canada to India, China and the Philippines surge 141% year over year to $2.36 billion in the 12 months ending June 2026. The report says the three markets account for 194% of Canada’s outbound cross-border stablecoin value, up from 10.9% a year earlier, while total transfers reach 3.56 million transactions with an average value of $663.

Additional data shared with Cointelegraph by Chainalysis head of research Eric Jardine shows Canada-to-Philippines crypto remittances alone reach $61.02 million across 73,564 transactions, up 28% by value and 34.7% by volume. The analysis covers Bitcoin and stablecoin transfers above $10,000 to and from personal wallets.

Chainalysis ranks Canada as the strongest peer-to-peer crypto economy in the G7. The firm points to the country’s large foreign-born population and the relatively high cost of traditional remittance services as factors supporting adoption.

Stablecoin adoption reshapes remittance economics

About 23% of Canada’s population is foreign-born, the highest share in the G7, according to Morva Rohani, executive director of the Canadian Web3 Council. Rohani says remittance corridors to India, the Philippines, Nigeria, Pakistan and China are heavily used, reinforcing the role of migrant-linked payment demand in crypto activity.

Stablecoins account for 44% of Canadian dollar-denominated order book volume in June, up from 30% a year earlier, the report finds. Chainalysis cites World Bank estimates showing the average cost of sending money from Canada is 6.7%, though it notes that low blockchain settlement fees do not include foreign-exchange conversion and cash-out costs.

The report also finds Canada’s domestic peer-to-peer activity tracks changes in its temporary visa-holder population since mid-2021, although Chainalysis says the link is correlational rather than causal. Jardine says the firm does not restrict its review to only the smallest transfers because that would risk omitting genuine remittance value, while earlier Chainalysis research finds global cross-border stablecoin flows rise 77.5% to $220.3 billion in the year through June.

Our earlier report on Canada–India diplomatic engagement covered Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand’s visit to New Delhi for talks with External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on advancing the renewed Strategic Partnership and joint roadmap. The article highlighted ongoing cooperation on trade and security, including progress on comprehensive economic partnership agreement negotiations and other efforts to deepen bilateral ties.
