Uniswap Labs opens fee conversion tool to crypto apps, Robinhood first partner
Uniswap automates crypto fees

Crypto apps that collect fees across multiple blockchains often accumulate a wide range of tokens, creating operational complexity when teams want revenue in a smaller set of assets. Uniswap Labs says its new open-source tool, TJAR, automates that conversion process and is already being used by Robinhood for fees collected through the Uniswap API.

Highlights

  • Uniswap Labs' TJAR tool handled over $15.3 million in conversions in September 2023 and is now available for third-party crypto apps.
  • Robinhood is the first integration partner using TJAR to convert Uniswap API fees, receiving payouts in USDC and USDG across supported chains.
  • TJAR offers treasury management on seven chains with customizable token, price, and destination settings; no protocol fee is set currently.

Tool expands token fee management

As reported by The Block, citing Uniswap Labs, TJAR is now available for external apps after initially being built for Uniswap's own protocol fee flows. The company says the system handled more than $15.3 million in conversions in September and is now being opened to other teams that want to streamline how they receive fee revenue.

Uniswap Labs says apps deposit collected fees into a Token Jar, then searchers compete to convert those assets so the app receives revenue in a chosen token. Under the model described in Uniswap's documentation, an app selects the token it wants to receive and sets an amount, while a searcher can pay that amount through a contract called a Releaser to collect the assets from the jar.

The documentation says the jar does not assign a price to each token it holds. Instead, searchers decide whether the trade is worthwhile, with payment sent to the destination selected by the app.

Uniswap uses UNI for these payments and directs it to a burn address, while other apps can choose both the token they want to receive and where those funds are sent. Uniswap Labs also says anyone can set up a token jar in a single transaction and can later change the token, price and destination, or lock those settings permanently.

Uniswap DAO governance can also apply an optional protocol fee to TJAR, though no fee is set at present, according to the documentation.

Robinhood integration highlights broader rollout

Robinhood is the first integration partner for TJAR, and Uniswap Labs says additional partners will follow. The company says Robinhood is already using the tool across its supported chains for fees collected through the Uniswap API, with those fees converted as they arrive and paid out in USDC and USDG.

The launch builds on an existing relationship between the two companies. Uniswap's trading protocols are live on Robinhood Chain, while Uniswap's web app, wallet and API also support Robinhood Stock Tokens.

For the broader crypto sector, the rollout points to rising demand for infrastructure that simplifies treasury and revenue management across fragmented blockchain ecosystems. Uniswap Labs says TJAR is live on seven chains, and developers can access its code, deployment addresses and audit reports.

In our earlier report on a KPMG U.S. CEO survey about AI agents, we noted that many large companies are seeing efficiency and growth benefits, even if only a small share considers the technology transformational so far. The survey also highlighted expectations for continued hiring, broad retraining efforts, and sustained investment in AI infrastructure as firms work through the operational changes needed to scale agentic systems.
