Uniswap Labs has introduced TJAR, an open-source tool that allows applications to automatically convert collected fees into selected cryptocurrencies. Investment platform Robinhood has become the project's first partner and is already using the solution to receive revenue in the USDC and USDG stablecoins.

The new service is based on the Token Jar system, originally developed to process Uniswap protocol fees. According to the company, the system processed more than $15.3 million in conversions in September alone.

TJAR is designed for applications that collect fees in different tokens across multiple blockchains. Instead of developing their own exchange mechanisms, they can use ready-made infrastructure to convert incoming funds into their preferred assets.

How the TJAR fee conversion system works

Applications deposit collected tokens into a dedicated Token Jar smart contract, then specify the cryptocurrency they want to receive and the expected amount.

Market participants known as searchers compete for the opportunity to exchange the contract's holdings. To do so, they transfer the specified amount through a separate Releaser contract and receive the accumulated assets.

According to the documentation, the system does not set individual prices for each token. Searchers independently assess whether an exchange is profitable and decide whether to participate.

In Uniswap's case, collected fees are converted into UNI and sent to a burn address. Other applications can choose their own token, recipient address, and exchange conditions.

Token Jar can be deployed in a single transaction. Developers have also included options to modify settings or permanently lock them.

The Uniswap DAO governance organization can introduce an additional fee for using TJAR, but no such fee is currently charged. The tool is already operational across seven blockchains.

Robinhood became the first partner to integrate TJAR for processing fees collected through the Uniswap API. Conversions take place as funds are received, allowing the platform to collect revenue in USDC and USDG.

Uniswap expands integrations with other DeFi protocols

The launch of TJAR marks another step in Uniswap's development of infrastructure for third-party applications. The company is also expanding cooperation with other decentralized exchanges to improve the efficiency of cryptocurrency swaps.

In particular, Uniswap Labs has introduced a mechanism for aggregating liquidity from Curve and PancakeSwap across Ethereum, Base, and Robinhood Chain. The solution allows users to find more favorable exchange rates by accessing offers from multiple trading platforms.

Fees generated by these transactions also contribute to the UNI burning mechanism. The integration of third-party liquidity therefore expands trading options while supporting the protocol's existing fee distribution model.

Earlier, we reported that comments by Uniswap founder Hayden Adams about tokenized stocks attracted attention from cryptocurrency market participants. The discussion took place against the backdrop of a 2.10% decline in UNI's price.
