Highlights

  • NZD/IDR currently trades below short-term resistance at Rp10,520 with near-term support at Rp10,462 and broader uptrend intact.
  • Momentum indicators register a buy setup with medium- and long-term bullish alignment, but some overbought warnings appear in short-term oscillators.
  • The pair is expected to consolidate between Rp10,395 and Rp10,586 over the next five days with a high probability of an upward move.
Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, observes that NZD/IDR is technically overextended and momentum is fading. He notes buyer dominance remains but warns of exhaustion signals, as both short-term oscillators and BBP flag overbought risks. The absence of notable news leaves technicals as the sole driver, which increases volatility and unpredictability in the current regime. With the pair trading below the 20-day moving average and showing a 0.6% decline, he stresses a cautious stance. "Markets lack direction without a news catalyst — risk of reversal is rising as buyers lose steam," Kharitonov warns.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, sees the bullish structure for NZD/IDR as firmly established despite subdued action. He emphasizes that upward momentum is reinforced by strong technical setups and supportive longer-term moving averages. In his view, buyers have absorbed recent selling and are poised to push prices higher, with the current range offering constructive setups for both trend followers and swing traders. "With bullish alignment holding, I expect further growth toward Rp10,586 as market sentiment remains favorable," Karapetjanc asserts.
Sholanke Dele, market strategist, contends that NZD/IDR's move lower signals market hesitation and fatigue. He underlines that the lack of supporting news flow adds to uncertainty and keeps sentiment muted. The subdued tone and tight volatility band reflect a defensive environment driven by caution, not conviction. "Without clear macro triggers, I see more risk of range-bound drift than fresh upside," Dele concludes.

Medium-term bullish structure holds as resistance and overbought signals emerge

NZD/IDR is currently trading below the 20-day moving average at Rp10,520, but above the 50-day at Rp10,462 and the 200-day at Rp10,205. This configuration suggests near-term resistance with buyers maintaining the medium- and long-term bullish structure, while the Ichimoku Kijun at Rp10,537 acts as further resistance and the bullish alignment of the 50-day over the 200-day supports the prevailing uptrend. The near-term ceiling for the pair stands at Rp10,520 and the nearest floor is at Rp10,462. Momentum indicators are signaling upside potential. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) and Average Directional Index (ADX) both indicate a buy setup, reinforced by bullish readings on the Stochastic RSI and a Relative Strength Index (RSI) at 56.57 heading toward overbought levels. Bull/Bear Power (BBP) shows clear buyer dominance with an overbought warning, while the Commodity Channel Index (CCI) and Awesome Oscillator register neutral tones. Today, the pair slipped to Rp10,491, declining 0.6%. The pair opened nearly flat and is now trading near the intraday low after a narrow 0.40% volatility session. The tone is subdued with pressure following the open, in line with moderate bullish momentum but some signs of exhaustion in short-term oscillators.

Earlier, analysts noted that NZD/IDR was under persistent near-term pressure and liable to consolidate, with downside risks dominating the technical outlook. The current article strengthens this view by highlighting that despite modest upside signals, the key level to watch is a sustained move above Rp10,520 for renewed bullish momentum.
