- Trump reported that TrumpRx has drawn over 10 million visits and saved Americans more than $400 million, though benefits are clearest for cash-paying patients.
Platform expansion and new pricing tools
As first reported by CNBC, the White House said on Monday that generic medications are being added to TrumpRx, the administration’s direct-to-consumer drug sales website. President Donald Trump said at an event that the number of products on the platform is increasing by nearly seven times, with more than 600 generic medicines now included. The administration is also adding tools that help patients find the lowest-priced pharmacy in their area and choose home delivery for prescriptions. Trump said the effort includes partnerships with companies already selling medicines directly to consumers at transparent prices, including Mark Cuban’s Cost Plus Drug Company, Amazon Pharmacy, and GoodRx.
Trump said the expanded catalog gives consumers a single place to check whether they are getting the lowest possible prescription cost. Until Monday, the site had focused on selected branded medicines from manufacturers that had agreed with the administration to voluntarily reduce prices for certain products sold to Americans.
Potential savings and limits for insured patients
Those branded offerings include obesity drugs from Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk, which have been listed on TrumpRx since the platform launched in February. Trump said on Monday that the site has drawn more than 10 million visits and has already saved Americans more than $400 million.Still, it remains unclear whether all patients, especially those with insurance coverage, are seeing greater savings through the platform than through existing purchase channels. TrumpRx is aimed at people willing to pay cash and bypass insurance, suggesting the biggest benefit may go to patients without coverage or with limited coverage.
The website does not directly sell medicines to patients. Instead, it serves as a central hub directing users to drugmakers’ own direct-to-consumer sites for discounted products or providing coupon-based discounts that can be used at pharmacies.
In our earlier report on the White House’s TrumpRx expansion plans, we noted that the administration was preparing to broaden the range of discounted prescription drugs available through the platform as part of a renewed domestic affordability push ahead of the 2026 midterms. The piece also described how officials were pairing the healthcare messaging with a wider political schedule and public scrutiny around campaign-style events.
