  • Nio partnered with GigaDevice to co-develop automotive chips and next-gen vehicle architectures, aiming to lower costs and accelerate innovation.

Record deliveries and chip partnership fail to offset selling pressure

Nio reported record vehicle deliveries in May with 37,705 units, a 62% increase year over year, led by demand for the ES9 and Onvo L80 SUVs. The ES9 model experienced waitlists of up to four months. Nio also entered into a strategic partnership with GigaDevice to co-develop automotive-grade chips and next-generation electrical architectures, aiming to drive innovation and reduce costs, though price action has remained under broader selling pressure.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, sees clear signs of technical and sentiment weakness in Nio Inc’s trading action. He notes that the stock’s persistent slide below all major moving averages and the daily close near session lows signal strong bearish pressure. Despite record vehicle deliveries and a new partnership, Kharitonov warns that these fundamentals have failed to reverse negative sentiment or price momentum. He believes broader market skepticism is reflected in lagging momentum indicators and failed attempts at recovery. "Until the stock reclaims key resistance levels, the path of least resistance remains down and rallies should be treated cautiously," the expert states.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, highlights robust fundamentals supporting Nio’s bullish case. He points to exceptional delivery growth and strong demand for new models, as well as strategic progress with advanced chip partnerships. Karapetjanc sees this as evidence of resilient business momentum despite short-term price weakness. He is confident that the positive outlook for electric vehicle adoption will soon outweigh current selling pressure. "Momentum is building for further gains — this market offers attractive setups for forward-looking investors," he asserts.
Parshwa Turakhiya, analyst, views Nio’s chart as a battleground for tactical traders in the immediate term. He notes the defined range between $5.21 and $5.56, with oscillators and momentum tools pointing to possible rebounds but no deep oversold condition yet. Turakhiya observes that intraday volatility may facilitate short-term opportunities for those quick to adapt to shifts in sentiment. He recommends watching closing levels and volatility for actionable setups. "Stay nimble and let the tape confirm — this zone is all about disciplined entries and exits," he advises.

Momentum weakens as technical barriers reinforce downside risk

Nio is trading below its key moving averages, with the price ($5.45) positioned under the 20-day ($5.82), 50-day ($6.06), and 200-day ($5.86) simple moving averages, signaling clear short-, medium-, and long-term bearish pressure. The nearest dynamic resistance is the Ichimoku Kijun level at $5.92, which now acts as an overhead barrier. Momentum remains weak, as both the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) and Average Directional Index (ADX) suggest a strong bearish trend with limited directional conviction. Relative Strength Index (RSI) signals a sell condition, while the Stochastic RSI and Commodity Channel Index (CCI) also indicate selling or neutral momentum, marking no clear oversold levels. Bull/Bear Power (BBP) is positive at 0.14, signifying buyers have a slight edge intraday, but the daily move is sharply negative after a downside gap of about $0.15. The price is close to session lows, having slipped 4.31% so far, and intraday volatility stands at 1.84%, showing persistent downward pressure following the open. Oscillators and momentum indicators mostly align with bearish price action, without strong bullish divergences.

Previously it was reported that federal relief became available for small businesses and nonprofits in Georgia and neighboring states impacted by drought offering economic support through low-interest loans. In contrast, Nio's technical setup now suggests traders should closely monitor the $5.21 support level, as a decisive break below this threshold could accelerate downside momentum despite recent operational gains.
