Bitcoin gains trail inflation since 2021, Gabor Gurbacs notes
Bitcoin rise lags inflation since 2021

Gabor Gurbacs, industry influencer, analyzes Bitcoin's performance since its 2021 cycle top, when the price was around $60,000–64,000.

He observes that Bitcoin is now trading at approximately $75,000–80,000, representing a nominal increase of 20–30% over roughly five years, or a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4–6%. Gurbacs notes that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) over the same period rose about 20–22%, resulting in a real return for Bitcoin under 10%. He attributes Bitcoin's recovery from its low of $16,000 to ETF approvals and increased institutional inflows.

Gurbacs has previously highlighted concerns regarding the classification of organizations within the cryptocurrency sector. He stated that many entities labeled as decentralized finance are instead governance-based frameworks featuring boards or foundations. He cautions that these structures should not be considered truly decentralized.
