U.S. hiring rate rebounds strongly in March

Heather Long, industry influencer, reports a significant recovery in the official U.S. hiring rate for March.

The hiring rate reached 3.5%, marking the highest level in almost two years. Strong job growth was seen in transportation, warehousing, and utilities with 108,000 new hires, as well as in professional and business services with 165,000 additions and continued solid gains in hospitality.

Earlier this week, Heather Long reported that core inflation reached 2.6 percent, the highest since December 2025, driven by increased gas and transit costs. Last month, she covered how the Strait of Hormuz closure sent oil prices higher as the U.S. planned a blockade. Recent hiring gains arrive as these cost pressures continue to factor into the economic outlook.
