Joseph Politano highlights a significant upward shift in professional forecasters' inflation expectations based on newly released data from the Philadelphia Federal Reserve.
According to Politano, the median forecaster now projects second-quarter inflation to reach a 6 percent annualized rate, twice the previous outlook. Projections for the third quarter have also risen, but to a lesser extent.
Politano has recently reported that Canadian GDP rose 1 percent year over year, marking the country's longest expansion streak in 2024. He also noted that EU industrial production increased 0.8 percent month-on-month, though annual output declined by 2.1 percent. The latest inflation expectations add to a series of closely watched economic indicators.
