Chilean copper giant Codelco has revised its copper production guidance for 2026 to 1.29 million tonnes, according to Robert Friedland.
This adjustment continues a downward trend in output over recent years. Earlier figures showed production at 1.33 million tonnes for both 2024 and 2025, and 1.32 million tonnes in 2023. The decline traces back from 1.67 million tonnes in 2018, reflecting considerable operational challenges and persistent industry pressures.
Copper supply developments from major producers like Codelco are closely monitored by global commodities markets due to copper's critical role in energy, infrastructure, and technology sectors.
Friedland has recently announced his strategic investment in ABAXX, joining a board with Josh Crumb and Jeff Curry. He also noted that the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex is producing 1,300 tonnes of sulphuric acid per day as a byproduct. These updates follow continued attention to production levels and output trends in the copper sector.
