Free Lightning onboarding remains simple, Alex Bosworth notes
Alex Bosworth, head of infrastructure at Lightning Labs, discusses factors influencing Lightning Network (LN) adoption. He highlights that LN onboarding is easy for users because it is free among peers and users retain control over this aspect.
However, Bosworth adds that onboarding involving shared UTXOs and network liquidity faces greater challenges, primarily due to third-party dependencies and resulting costs.
Bosworth has previously analyzed how both for-profit and nonprofit Bitcoin entities may have financial incentives linked to ongoing industry activities, as discussed in his examination of organizational incentives. He has also critiqued inflation policy, noting it can disadvantage cash holders while tending to benefit wealthy investors able to invest, according to another recent commentary. These views inform his perspective on user adoption and the challenges of network onboarding.
