Rotki flags fake stablecoins to protect users, Lefteris Karapetsas notes
Tools must spot scam USDC tokens

Lefteris Karapetsas stresses the importance of crypto tools being able to distinguish authentic USDC tokens from scam versions.

He explains that rotki maintains canonical addresses for USDC and other stablecoins across multiple chains and that fake tokens are automatically flagged, allowing users to mark other questionable tokens as spam. He also notes that a user of Koinly recently encountered this issue on Reddit, which rotki had already solved years ago.

Karapetsas previously highlighted that Rotkiapp’s latest update can automatically detect staked Solana, with all user data processed locally. In a separate announcement, he noted that Giveth’s Ethereum Security round was nearing its final hours, targeting $2,800 or 200 contributors before closing. These initiatives reflect an ongoing focus on practical tools and security features in the crypto space.
