Michael Green: Overvalued equity can threaten core company value
Overvalued equity risk to firm value

Michael Green, chief strategist and portfolio manager at Simplify Asset Management, highlights a quote from Michael Jensen in 2005 that discusses the risks of a company's equity becoming substantially overvalued.

Green notes that such overvaluation can trigger organizational forces that are extremely difficult to manage and can almost inevitably lead to the destruction of part or all of the core value of the company.

Green has previously flagged risks in key economic and market drivers. He pointed to a report linking rising U.S. food insecurity to weaker consumer sentiment. In another note, he stated that algorithms have overtaken portfolio managers in impacting markets.
